- Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and Physical Science, with a minimum E symbol (40%).
- Two relevant N2 trade-related subjects, or

- Minimum 40% (E symbol) in all required subjects.
- Subjects passed with an F symbol will not be accepted.
- Be willing to undergo psychometric assessments.
- Be prepared to work shifts, standby duties, and call-outs when required.
- Be able to work under pressure.
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Be able to identify faults with minimal supervision.
- Possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Certificate of Fitness.
- Hold a valid K53 driver’s licence.
